Bernie Sanders is ready to help Democrats take control of the Senate.
The senator from Vermont is preparing a post-Labor Day blitz of campaign activity, according to three sources briefed on his plans, offering what Democratic leaders hope will be a late-in-the-race boost from the liberal icon to the party's slate of Senate candidates.
In addition to attending campaign rallies, Sanders is also expected to raise money for individual candidates including through the use of his vaunted list of small donors, according to one source close to the senator.
That list turned Sanders into a financial juggernaut during his underdog presidential campaign and has been of considerable interest to Democratic strategists, who think it could be a major source of money in down-ballot races.

(8,955 posts)I donate. Silly me? In any event I can respect someone who shares that expectation if that's why he's not turning over his list.

(59,504 posts)Even when Kerry supported Obama or another candidate, he did not turn over his list. Instead, he send emails supporting a candidate explaining why, with a link that went to Obama if they wanted to support him in any way. With other candidates, he often linked to the Act Blue (I think that's it) link which allowed people to contribute.
In 2008, there was a lot of controversy from Edwards supporters claiming he gave out the list to Obama, but he didn't.
At this point, Bernie has what is very likely an even bigger list and it likely contains more names that neither the DSCC or Clinton have. This list is best used ONLY by Bernie.

(11,605 posts)They were calling so often I asked to be taken off the list, after telling them 10 times that I prefer to give to individual candidates. I do not want to be put back on. As a Bernie donor, I appreciate him not giving out my information to other Democrats. If I want to be on their lists I will sign up.
I am glad to see that Bernie will fundraise and campaign for Senate Democrats though.

(58,785 posts)enact progressive advances, repeal laws that need to be repealed, write new ones that need to be written, and give them the funding they need to become change, not just hopes for the future.
Of course they often all keep their own lists -- they cost a lot of money developing and they're worth money and power. Hillary's not passing around her far longer one either--the one her campaign continued to develop after an earlier list of donors that was supposed to be private was accessed and copied.
We'll continue on fighting the same fight through the general, not because we're best friends or all's forgotten but because we have the same goals and the same opponents.

(67,782 posts)....my contact information and never donated anything to his campaign.
However, just a day after the now infamous data breach of Clinton's donor/contact list on the DNC server back in December, I coincidentally started getting emails daily from the Sanders campaign. At first it was one or two, then accelerated to as many as five or six up until the last primary in June.
