(27,677 posts)but I was watching that second scene and was wondering if that was ad-libbed given Cleavon's laugh. I found this on imdb:
Cool.

(1,945 posts)People always assume that Mel Brooks wrote Young Frankenstein, but it was Gene Wilder that penned it. And then gave it to Brooks to produce/direct etc. A match made in heaven!

(16,927 posts)In a "classical" sense.
But I chuckled when I thought about how "Blazing Saddles" could have taken a "sheep" line SO many ways - and I'm sure he would have thought the same!
RIP

(81,308 posts)Aw shit. Sad news. Wonderful comedic actor. Such a nice man. A thoughtful man. Deep. I had a chance to interview him awhile after she'd died. I felt like I really needed to take some extremely delicate care about it. It was clear he was still grieving. They really loved each other.
He was such a good husband to Gilda Radner. Yeah, RockaFowler, that's exactly what I thought the moment I heard. He's with his beloved Gilda now.
I just told my husband and that was his reaction too. "That means he's back with Gilda again."

(1,203 posts)Gene Wider's skit where he falls in love with a sheep is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. And what a great actor.... just watching his face as he looks at the sheep, he acted that scene beautifully.
RIP, Gene, and may you be with Gilda now.

One thing about movies is that even after the actors have gone on, they still are alive in the movies they made, and they still make us laugh.

Gene and Pryor at their best.
And a nod to Erland van Lidth de Jeude (Grossberger) who died in 1987 at the age of 34. BTW, he also sang opera -- bass baritone, of course -- and studied computer science at fucking MIT!
