http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/trump-pam-bondi-scandal-227823Trump's pay for play scandal intensifies
The swirl of scandal around Donald Trumps donation to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is intensifying, with the Republican nominee and his aides vigorously pushing back against the idea that he bought the decision by Bondi to not pursue an investigation into his Trump University.
The controversy whipped back up last week when news emerged that Trump paid a $2,500 fine because his foundation improperly donated $25,000 to Bondis political election committee in 2013 (tax-exempt charitable groups are not allowed to make political contributions).
*snip*
The Trump campaign is also facing a new crop of editorials, with the Miami Herald saying its puzzling why Trumps controversy is not getting equal billing to that associated with the Clinton Foundation.
Unlike the faux scandal over the Clinton institution, there were actual victims here people who paid good money to Trump University and feel they were duped. Why is Pam Bondi not investigating that? the Miami Herald editorial board wrote in an item titled, Donald Trumps gift to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi deserves a closer look.

(3,040 posts)Trump will say or do something utterly absurd to take over the news cycle and this too will disappear. He does it every time scandals appear.
And the media will let him do it.

Wow. @PamBondi flat-out lied that she wasn't aware of the Trump University complaints she dismissed.
David @davidpsdem
@PamBondi Bondi stated she had no complaints against Trump U in her office yet there are 8,000 pages of them
With Twitter postings & every Major Newspaper covering the Trump/Bondi Bribe, they aren't stuffing this scandal back in the box:
Pay to Play, Mr. Trump?

(47,573 posts)The AP reported that Abbott, a Republican, was serving as Texas Attorney General at the time, and opened a civil investigation of "possibly deceptive trade practices" into Trump University, but quietly dropped it when the organization agreed to end its operations in Texas.
Trump subsequently donated $35,000 to Abbott's successful gubernatorial campaign, according to records obtained by the AP.

We have no-one except Bill Nelson on a Statewide level. That's pathetic. How the heck did pRick Scott win 2x?? My head hurts. I'm going back to sleep!

(1,278 posts)only spent some time in the Panhandle [Okaloosa Co] but the last real Democrat to exist in Florida was Lawton Childs, and he is from the Old School Boil Weevil type of Dem, like Sen. Sam Nunn GA, Howell Heflin AL, Ernest Hollings SC for example.
A recent example of Florida not being ready was Alan Grayson's defeat to Patrick Murphy and Tim Canova's defeat to Debbie Wassermann Schultz. We have our own checkered present here, with Deborah Ross may have a shot at Sen. Richard Burr, and AG Roy Cooper should be Gov. Pat McCrory in a normal cycle, but the Rs have something up their sleeve. BTW, Roy Cooper isn't exactly liberal, more of the Sen. Joe Manchin WV type.

New information has surfaced tying Ivanka Trump to the mushrooming political bribery scandal surrounding Trump and the Florida Attorney General Pam Bondis unusual decision to cease investigating Trump University.
Donald Trump operated the unlicensed University out of 40 Wall Street in New York City, and now faces a major federal trial this November, for both racketeering and consumer fraud.
Public record searches indicate that on September 10th, 2013 Ivanka Trump personally donated $500 to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondis general election fund, and also Donald Trump made a personal donation himself on July 15th, 2013 of $500 too, before Bondis prior claims that the two spoke about donations a month later.
The new information reveals an earlier, direct contribution from Donald J. Trump to Florida Attorney General Bondi and suggests a general pattern of paying significant campaign contributions to both she and former-Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in 2013 during a 60-day window when the Republican Presidential candidate went on what could be characterized as a pay-for-play shopping spree.
