I even know WHERE it is, but I'm not running for POTUS!

(24,736 posts)Stunning in its lack of awareness of the world. From a US Presidential candidate. I'm not sure Johnson is playing with a full deck, though he seems relatively innocuous.

(63,912 posts)it was something called a "leppo" that he couldn't discern.
I know that sounds a bit odd but I really don't think he was hearing it was one word and a name of a place.

What the hell is it with candidates who want to cozy up to Putin here?

(1,307 posts)refer not to the country's name but by the city's name or specific region. If the debate mods don't do it, Clinton could ask Trump what he would do about such and such.

(54,020 posts)It shows how terrible & polluted & covered with oil derricks our cities will be under Trump or Clinton and then contrasts those images with how pristine and green our cities will be under him. Because if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that deregulation and small government always leads to cleaner environments and a lack of commercial activities in public spaces.
Then the ad shows the shoddily built fake USS Enterprise blowing up because it was built by big government. Because, as history has shown, it is the lack of industrial regulation that leads to greater workplace safety.
Thanks for those timely reminders, Gary Johnson. But I'm not sure your extended nonsequitered Star Trek fantasies are helping build the case that being a lifelong stoner hasn't impaired your thinking.

(1,638 posts)JOHNSON: You know, in all of these polls its just, remarkably, 50-50. Amazingly, I think, though, that with the exception of just a few polls its more votes from Hillary.
BARNICLE: Do you
JOHNSON: But I think I think when it ends up it will really be 50-50.
BARNICLE: But do you worry about the Nader effect in 2000?
JOHNSON: I dont worry one bit about it. I really do think that the two-party system is broken. I dont think Democrats are able to balance a checkbook these days. Thats its all about bigger government and higher taxes. And then Republicans with, I think, the social agenda. Look, whatever your social inclinations are just dont force it on me. And I think the Republican Party has gotten really extreme in that category.
BARNICLE: What would you do, if you were elected, about Aleppo?
JOHNSON: About?
BARNICLE: Aleppo.
JOHNSON: And what is Aleppo?
BARNICLE: Youre kidding.
JOHNSON: No.
BARNICLE: Aleppo is in Syria. Its the its the epicenter of the refugee crisis.
JOHNSON: OK, got it, got it.
When talking about the two parties and polling and you hear someone saying "a LEPO", you might not immediately realize that they suddenly switched to a completely different topic.
