(there are plenty of words, most of which would probably get me in trouble)
one would think, however, that, at the very least, there should be an investigation of this guy's social media, emails, and his basement. no telling what this rape apologist is hiding.
FL candidate defends decision not to prosecute child rapist, says victim was 'with him voluntarily'
Florida State Attorney Mark Ober is in a tight race against Andrew Warren in the Hillsborough State Attorney elections. If you dont know who Republican Mark Ober is, you can ask his former employee and corrupt state official Pam Bondi. Ober is getting slammed by Warren for his apparent ineptitude in pursuing a sexual assault case between a 15-year-old Florida teenager and a 27-year-old Maryland musician she met online.

Alex Pelzer, 26, allegedly forced a Tampa teenager to become his sex slave and met her in D.C. and Maryland hotel rooms for sadistic encounters. These charges came to light back in February, at which time Obers office declined to charge the 27-year-old Pelzer. Local news investigated the sexual assault allegations and the results of their investigation forced Obers office to reexamine the case.
Her mother says he treated her like his slave and the teen got frightened about what the man would do when her mother discovered the relationship and took her phone.
My master will punish me or be mad if I dont respond, the teen told her mother. And then in the same second she looked up at me and said, 'Mommy, help.' I and I just hugged her.
. . . . . .
According to investigators, Pelzer was able to manipulate a local teenager to be his sex slave. When we first reported the story, the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office on the advice of the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office closed the case and said it could not pursue charges against the out of state man.
However, the State Attorney's Office took another look.
So what happened? Ober, upon being attacked for his mishandling of the case by Warren the other day, had this to say: Now, in Obers defense, this is exactly what he said: I have a picture of what I call a sex slave. And by no means...do not read between the lines, this young girl...this man has committed a crime so dont read between the lines here. She was with him voluntarily. She flew to see him. See, Ober has his own picture of what a sex slave is. Its a picture of a woman, with mud in her hair, unwashed and bloody, living in a dungeon, waiting for Jodie Foster to save her. This is Ober trying to cover up the fact that originally his office denied having had seen the entire report.
. . . . .
Thats the job, Mark Ober. If you cant do it, find something else to do. The video is below.

(7,820 posts)Of age of consent and statutory rape laws? That we have decided as a society that minors can't legally consent to having sex? That the adult is always breaking the law, and there is no legal defense that it was "voluntary"? I realize in practice these cases don't get handled that way, and I get the Romeo and Juliet exceptions, but omfg, this just doesn't seem like that difficult a concept. This was a 15 yr old child and a mid-20s adult. This was rape.
