ABC12 News has confirmed the candidate is making several stops during the day. His plane is scheduled to touch down at Bishop International Airport around 1:30 p.m. His campaign hasn't confirmed any other details.
ABC12 News has learned Trump has reached out to members of the Concerned Pastors group. The 30 black pastors have given people a voice during the water emergency, but they may not give the Republican presidential candidate an ear.
Sources tell us that Trump has requested a visit to the Flint water treatment plant.
Michael Moon, Chair of the Genesee County Republican Party, says he's also heard Trump plans to visit the plant. He says it was only a matter of time before Trump came to Flint.
"They know they have to hit the inner cities, they have to go where the problems actually are and Flint's water issue has been an issue on worldwide news the last two years," said Moon.
Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D-Flint) isn't impressed by the visit.
"Trying to figure out how water comes out of a plant is not how you solve infrastructure problems, is not how you solve urban decay. I think we need to have folks that are coming here, bringing solutions, bringing policies that positively affect family's lives and that's what I think Secretary (Hillary) Clinton is doing," he said.
But Moon argues democratic leadership hasn't ever helped the inner-cities overcome their struggles. He thinks Trump has a shot with Flint voters.
"Nothing's getting any better, we have the same (democratic) leadership, the same people come out and say 'hey vote for me and in exchange I'll do this for you' and then they do nothing," said Moon.
There are no events open to the public that his campaign has made public.

(21,743 posts)Don't they deny funding to fix the same problem everywhere else it exists?
Weren't they the ones that switched the water source to begin with?
Isn't Trump a Republican?

(26,262 posts)Ever since the water crisis came into the national spotlight, the republicans have been desperately trying to change the narrative and put the blame on the Democrats. Yea, there was a Democratic Mayor at the time (Dayne Walling) and a whole lot of Democrats on the city council. This is a very heavily Democratic area. BUT, the republican governor and his toady 'emergency manager are the ones who decided to make the switch.
