All this talk of maternity leave is more Trump BS

Funny how no one at either Ivanka or Donald's businesses recall anyone getting paid maternity leave. Really? They can't RECALL???

On Ivanka's policies:

But the contractor that designs her clothing line, including the $157 sheath she wore during her convention speech, does not offer workers a single day of paid maternity leave...Through a spokeswoman, Trump declined to comment for this story.

As Trump delivered her prime-time speech, a fashion designer for the G-III Apparel Group watched from her home in New York City and rolled her eyes. The employee of nearly four years, a registered Republican who asked to remain anonymous for fear of losing her job, said she became pregnant last year and was dismayed to learn the company allows just 12 weeks of unpaid leave, the legal minimum for employers with more than 50 workers. So, she burned her vacation days, drained her savings and then relied on her husband’s income after giving birth to her son.

Trump's businesses:
As an alternative to the tight-lipped corporate communications department, The Daily Beast reached out to over 100 former employees to ask about the company’s family-leave policy. Most were unwilling to speak, several citing nondisclosure agreements that Trump requires of almost all of his employees, from valets at Mar-a-Lago, to executives, to makers of “Make America Great Again” hats—legally binding documents that Trump is often aggressive in enforcing.

“I would love to talk to you about [Trump’s maternity-leave policy],” one former spa worker at Mar-a-Lago said. “But I’ve signed so many confidentiality agreements that I can’t say anything.”

Of the nine ex-employees who were willing to speak, only one was able to recall any maternity leave—in this instance, it was apparently unpaid leave—being offered at the company, although none of them could say conclusively that no such leave was offered.

GOP attitude toward paid maternity leave:
Donald Trump on Tuesday formally proposed that the federal government guarantee up to six weeks of paid leave to new mothers.

Although the plan is characteristically short on detail and appears to lack adequate funding, it represents a sharp break with the Republican establishment, which has traditionally dismissed such proposals as job killers that lead to too much government involvement in Americans’ lives.

He wants to be able to get up stage and say Hillary doesn't have a plan when he knows she does. But he can't do that without having a plan.

Then he can look at the women and say, see, I am giving you something that I am not giving the men.
