Does anyone know if the "Dueling Speeches" are available on you tube

or can I get transcripts of them somewhere, I want to have my government students compare and contrast in a critical thinking assignment. I have found Obama's speech on You Tube, but I am having trouble finding Romney's.

would be useful for comparison. I haven't worked out what requirements or what I want them to look for. I am interested in having them reflect on the speeches and not on commentary on them by others. I welcome them to add their own opinions, but only insofar as supported by facts, etc.

My wife also teaches govt. and she has an assignment where she has them look at platforms of the state parties (Dem, Repub, Libertarian, green) and has had a lot of people surprised that they are a lot more liberal than they have been led to believe.

Sometimes I talk about the left-right continuum and other means of organizing political positions, such as the political compass, and the one that talks about politics and morals.

BTW, did I say thanks?

Exciting challenge to be teaching this stuff -- I wish you and your wife much success. Kids need to be challenged to think for themselves much more -- for too many it's a novel experience.

And you did thank me twice.. thanks back.
