There will be, someday, a national holiday named for Barack Obama.

By the numbers alone, he's won the honor. By right of sheer civil service, he has earned that honor. He will be, at some point, revered far beyond the way he is at this moment. It's going to happen.

Because at that point we'll be better people, all of us. Inspiration will out. I can see it.

And in that not-so-far history (because things are moving faster) the Republican Party will play the villain. They've always, as a belief system in general, played the villain. But during this particular period, against the tremendous deeds of this amazing president -- they will be transformed by the light of future history into malignant, dark-souled toads, the algorithm of all that is greedy and weirdly sexual.

Because it's true.

The formation was sacred to Native Americans and many believe that the carvings desecrated it. What was done is done but I would NOT want to see the first black president added to that place.

I'd rather see the Confederate monument on Stone Mountain blown away and put Civil Rights leaders there with Barack Obama at the end of a long line of marchers who fought for equal rights.

Unless there is a dramatic shift in the opinions of US citizens, I don't see it happening.

It might become a state holiday in Illinois though. Like Ronald Reagan day in California.
