I've decided in honor of Hillary's MASTERFUL power move of addressing Trump by his first name, that from here on out, I'll refer to him as "Donald" in my posts. He reportedly doesn't like being addressed as Donald, sees it as a lack of respect. I like to imagine every time Hillary called him Donald he had flashbacks to his mommy admonishing him as a child. It may have been the most effectively brilliant way to get to his ego.

(9,895 posts)It sparked his "Secretary Clinton...is THAT OK? I want you to be happy" moment, which threw him off his game more than he will EVER admit.
I was hoping that she would do just that AND throw in a quick jab about "why do you keep suggesting your supporters kill me?" Again, the Clintons have more class and decorum than I do...

(35,015 posts)He thrives in that environment and then he would have ammunition for his "out of control" comment. Her jabs were subtle and effective, without openly engaging Donald in his game. She gave him nothing.

(7,242 posts)Trump would go off on a "You ... you ... you ..." rant about Clinton. Clinton would frequently respond (other than a few well-aimed unanswerable jabs, like "We know you live in your own reality" by addressing the camera/audience directly, saying "He ... he ... he ...".
That stopped it being a head-to-head back and forth and made many of her responses explainers.
To cap it all, at those points he might as well not have been on the stage. She held court.
That's not just something that happened, that's good strategy and discipline through practice.
