I'm not really down with the idea that VP should have been someone else. I love Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, but... I think VP sometimes have to restrain themselves according to the Presidents agenda. As a patriot I want Bernie and Elizabeth free to speak up and speak out and able to hold Hillary Clinton accountable, bc as democrats we don't blindly fall in line behind our Presidents. We are sane rational people, mostly, and we care about the issues more than the person occupying the White House.
I love Hillary, but being President is a multi faceted job and it's easy to get pulled in a direction and lose sight of some other priorities. I think Bernie and Elizabth can keep the focus on income inequality and strengthening the middle class.
Tim Kaine wasn't the calm voice in the room and maybe didn't win the theatre of the debate for those that watched. BUT Ive been watching the playbacks on the news and it show Kaine prosecuting Pence and him dodging. I wish Kaine had taken a few opportunities to hit Oence on his record as Governor. It's terrible and it was uncertain whether or not he would win re election in Indiana.

(15,438 posts)and keeping him there, which is the VP candidate's job. He had command of the facts and even quoted Ronnie Raygun verbatim. This is a man who knows his facts and isn't afraid to use them.
He came across a little nervous at the start - his first time on a huge stage - but he clearly didn't want Pence to get the upperhand in the debate - and succeeded.
Pence came across as defensive, a liar, and not much different than his running mate.
As for hitting Pence's record as governor of Indiana...well, it's Indiana, one of the reddest States of the Union (for some strange reason) and any grievances committed by a Republican governor is taken, by them, with a IOKIYAR attitude.

Contrast all of this with Mike Pence, whose Facebook page lists his favorite music as: "Contemporary Christian, Country, Classical, and anything by Earth Wind and Fire," the last of which he probably only likes because their name reminds him of the apocalypse. Mike Pence is a guy who has had a Jimmy Buffett greatest hits compilation in the CD player of his Ford F-150 for 11 years and always skips past "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw." Mike Pence really looks forward to doing the "ba-ba-baaaa" part in "Sweet Caroline." Mike Pence and his taste in music are wrong for America.
