Not Hillary, but this woman from Portland Maine who is accused of stealing Donald Trump campaign signs. Maybe some of us at the DU could chip in to pay her penalty, if she is found guilty.
The womans name was not immediately available early Friday evening. Falmouth police Lt. John Kilbride said that the incident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Route 1. The signs were on public property.
He said that the woman stated she was upset with Trump when asked why she had the signs.
Taking, defacing or disturbing signs bearing political messages relating to a general or primary election or a referendum is a civil violation in Maine. Those who do so face a fine of up to $250.

(27,787 posts)I don't see to many Trump signs, but when I do I take note of where the crazies live so I can avoid them.
Same with the TRump bumper stickers.
Its nice when insane people self-identify .... that way the rest of us can avoid them.
She should be fined for messing up the "whack job identification system".

(36,898 posts)but why is there a fine for removing signs from public property? As far as I am concerned, the people who placed those signs on public property are the ones who deserve a fine (littering, perhaps).

(25,902 posts)campaign signs is simply not acceptable. Would all of you who want to stand up for or financially help out this woman also perfectly okay when the same thing is done to our signs?
I hope not. So recall something about do unto others, and strongly discourage anyone from stealing or vandalizing anyone's campaign signs.

(550 posts)But I do find it interesting that the signs were on public property. I remember, as a young lad, one of our scout leaders would drive us down the road, so we could pull the signs down. There were thousands of them, mostly stapled to power poles, often with several competing candidates stapled over each other in large stacks.
We always did this the day after the election, as a clean up.
Anyway, I'm very happy that today I rarely see political signs littering the public right of way. She shouldn't have stolen them...but perhaps could have asked her local public works department to pull them.

Besides, she removed the evidence that screams "Beware! Asshole in residence!"
