DRUMPF never "got" the concept of electioneering. Ran off blocs of voters but now too his own party
There are certainly ideologically-driven, single issue candidates who actively write off their ideological opposites, but this dude has run off *everybody* except a core (whoever *they* are). When he started off with one group/Mexicans, cultural parochialism was blending into racism but it was a little bit plausible that an "issue" (immigration) was clumsily being addressed, but then he proceeded to alienate group after group into unimaginable territory - veterans, the disabled, women, Killed in Action and wounded veterans, and probably more to come in more tapes.
The *concept* of electioneering is to ATTRACT as many adherents into voting, the opposite of running them off in this scale of things. But he has ended up (can there be a farther End?) in rampaging against his whole Party.
Not that I'm complaining!1
It's more at the level of "absolute power corrupts" for the billionaires (or him who thinks he's one) who are Bad, thinking they can do anything they want. Some benign ones channel their power into traveling to Mars.
