For the benefit of right-wingers visiting this site, the Economist is NOT a leftist publication. Their economics and politics tend to be fairly right-wing, at least right-wing as it was in the days of Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush's presidency. They liked Ronnie, they liked Margaret Thatcher, they liked George Bush the Elder, and they even liked Dubya.
That the Economist deplores the Donald speaks VOLUMES of what they think of the Republican Party's presidential candidate and his political agenda.

Many DUers will not agree with their pro-free trade stance, but it's a good magazine.

(16,245 posts)It's more balanced than, say, The Wall Street Journal. They also present news of events in every part of the world. Stuff our news media doesn't tell us because they think we don't care.
