my son posted a pic of this statue on his fb
one of his friends made a comment about statues of gays. he noted freddie mercury, but couldn't think of any others.
would my du friends care to enlighten the young man.
(serious question. just cuz this is du, i add- no offense intended, no phony curiosity. completely sincere.)

(5,105 posts)That's the first time I've seen or heard of the Turing statue. Are you aware of his role in WWII and how his nation rejected him upon learning he was gay? It's quite a story. Sad story.
We've always been here, and were forced to fight back when the "religious" right decided to demonize us for political gain. I was raised to be a Christer, but actually read the Bible--few actually do, and those who do usually become atheist or agnostic.
