(9,494 posts)I naturally assumed that people on a political site would be able to understand what was implied. I have to keep reminding myself that there is a broad spectrum of people on DU and some don't keep up with all of the issues.

(70,740 posts)since I've been similarly lambasted a couple of times.
1- Yes, we tend to assume that others are seeing/hearing the same news, or that past months of news is the foundation for the current story, and that almost all DUers are news junkies who can fill in blanks.
2- So some of us, in our excitement over breaking news, might fall prey to Shorthand.
However, the Complainers might take the teeniest bit of responsibility and (*GASP*) try Googling for themselves instead of taking the SAME amount of time to complain and pile on in an internet post.
When I saw the complaints, I Googled and immediately saw three items at the top of the Search results.

(28,151 posts)it's the way of DU. Every thought that crosses a mind is worthy of its own thread here. Have a brilliant comment you don't want buried in discussion, because brilliant? Kick off a thread shining a light on that brilliant reply to another OP. Want lots of recs without much effort? Post something like "Trump Sucks!!1!" and just watch the accolades pour in!
Yeah, DU is a special place with special ways for all the very special people who are too special to be a mere part of discussion...oh wait, how deep can discussion be when it's all about the spotlight for ((((MEEEEEEEEEEE))))) ((((((WONDERFUL MEEEEEEEEEEE))))))?
I guess this suits the board owners and the regular participants so those looking for a little more substance move on for the most part.
It's merely a matter of taste as opposed to kindness, imo.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)It was being reported outside the court house as I was typing. There weren't any links to reference and I would have kept giving information as it was coming out if I hadn't been piled on by the crowd of people who, apparently, would rather wait a hour or so to hear information like this.
You actually think I was fishing for a "Wonderful Me" from the people at DU???? I rarely visit DU and I was posting the news to the sites I do frequent because I thought people would like to tune in and watch it happen. Next time I'll skip DU. I'm only sorry that I came back to see if anyone had more information that I couldn't get. I had no idea the good news would turn into an attack on me.

Though no matter the reason, such posts do tend to be pretty useless and somewhat annoying. 'K, done now.

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) --
Bridget Kelly, who prosecutors say sent the "time for some traffic problems" email that started the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal, testified that Governor Christie knew about Fort Lee lane closures in August of 2013 - a month before they started.
Kelly testified that on August 12. 2013, David Wildstein, a former Port Authority staffer who previously pleaded guilty in the case and is the prosecution's key witness, told her that the proposed traffic study at the George Washington Bridge would create traffic problems in Fort Lee.
Kelly said she then went to Gov. Christie to inform him about Wildstein's traffic study. Christie told her he was fine with the traffic study, and then asked her for an update on Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich.
She admitted in court that at that point, she didn't know who Mayor Sokolich was. That's when she then sent Wildstein the infamous "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee" email.

(2,542 posts)This could just be a ploy to remove her credibility ahead of Christie's trial, to nullify the potential best witness for the prosecution.
