Miss Iceland says she quit pageant after being told she's too fat

An international beauty pageant stage was lacking Miss Iceland on Tuesday night after the contestant claimed organizers told her she was "too fat," prompting her decision to drop out.

Current Miss Iceland, 20-year-old Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir, was slated to compete in Miss Grand International happening Tuesday night in Las Vegas. Instead of prepping for the finale, she headed home after comments were made about her weight, she said on social media outlets.

Jónsdóttir and representatives from 75 other countries arrived in Las Vegas on Oct. 8 for the pageant heralded as "the world's leading international beauty pageant" devoted to making a "stand for the betterment of humanity." Late Sunday night, after announcing her resignation via Facebook, the beauty queen posted an Instagram photo of a resignation later addressed to pageant founder, Nawat Itsaragrisil.

"Your staff told me that I had to loose (sic) weight for the finals because I have to (sic) much fat on me and also to (sic) big shoulders," Jónsdóttir wrote. "They told me to eat less and then you would like me more."
