When this campaign started, Donald Trump had extremely high negative numbers of about 57% of the people did not trust him. Hillary's numbers were about 39% which were very high.
However, day in and day out, the media talked about how dishonest and how untrustworthy Hillary Clinton is and then one day, she surpassed Donald Trump as the most sleazy candidate in the race. They had accomplished their goal. They had reached a false balance.
To be factual, there has never been a candidate as dishonest or as sleazy as Donald Trump that has run as a major Party candidate in our lifetimes.
He invited the Russians to hack into Hillary's emails. He refused to pay any federal taxes. He had shady business deals with the Russians. He treated people who worked for him like crap. He stiffed them on money that he owed them. He used Chinese steel in his buildings. He used immigrant workers from Poland and screwed them in wages and other threatening ways. Women came forward to accuse him of being a sexual predator.
But then, Wikileaks released emails of Hillary's advisers and the media feasted on them daily. There was no evidence of any classified information being stolen from Hillary's server but somehow, the email story was equivalent to Donald Trump's transgressions. Not only were they equivalent, they were worse.
So, the media got the horse race they wanted. The polls leveled out and we were told we had the two worst candidates in the history of the Republic. So there we are.

(42,641 posts)And given that a handful of large corporations determine what is considered news, and how that news is presented, this does have to be repeated frequently.
And a close election means more media advertising, which means more profit.

(5,764 posts)The owners of the MSM establishment use our political process as a platform for a 'reality' soap opera, from which they can enrich themselves.
It's disgusting.

(1,428 posts)This is how the MSM covers all news. Think hard. When's the last time you've seen a major story break due to the efforts of investigative journalists from a corporate news outlet? Sex scandals and whistle blower leaks don't count.
