NORTH DAKOTA POLICE ‘OUT OF CONTROL’ IN PROTESTS AT STANDING ROCK
Police abuse at the protests have been reported to worsen, with a civil liberties NGO calling activists’ constitutional rights being under attack.

“In Standing Rock, the cops are out of control,” said Cooper Brinson, who is a staff attorney at Civil Liberties Defense Center. He cited accusations of humiliation, beatings by police, and unwarranted strip-searches of arrestees. He reported:

“The actions of police against the land and water protectors at Standing Rock are depraved, abusive, and disgraceful. They are exceedingly disrespectful and radically humiliating to the people who have occupied this land since time immemorial.”

Since 2010, over 3,300 incidents of crude oil and liquefied natural gas leaks or ruptures have occurred on U.S. pipelines. These incidents have killed 80 people, injured 389 more, and cost $2.8 billion in damages. They also released toxic, polluting chemicals in local soil, waterways, and air.Jun 22, 2015

...it's not just the Sioux - Lakota. It's not even just the USA or just North America. It is a far-flung network of Indigenous peoples - and other peoples - from around the world taking a stand to PROTECT the earth and the people, plants, animals, water, air and land.

This is global. Standing Rock just happens to be the place where people have gathered to take a stand against the corporate rape of the planet to reap obscene profits at the expense of everyone for the FatCat Few (R).

That just ain't right.

Next thing you know, Mr Obama will threaten to put on his walking shoes.

However, I think the headline should read "cojones"

Nothing.

If OWS taught us anything any protest against corporate power will be met with violent oppression the same thing is happening at standing rock.

Sicking dogs on the protestors using chemical weapons against them it's truly a disgrace to our so called democracy.

And just like OWS Obama will do nothing and allow the rights of our citizens to be trampled for corporate greed.

The treatment of OWS was a disgrace. This Standing Rock situation is as well.

Very sad to see that protest is not tolerated unless you are a Bundy and bring lots of guns and threaten the police.

The Federal government has very little control over state or local police.

the Department of Justice, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Interior intervened with an unprecedented joint statement requesting "that the pipeline company voluntarily pause all construction activity within 20 miles east or west of Lake Oahe."

He seems to have done most if not all that he can.
