Could it be that this whole story was created to supersede a blockbuster story about to break on Donald Trump? And they hoped to lessen the impact with a story like this?

most of the stories regarding Trump would already be blockbuster stories i.e. campaign sinkers. This year is different though. Trump gets a pass. He always gets a pass.
