(1,132 posts)The polls showed a much closer race four years ago, and I never came close to panicking.
Trump is by far the worst presidential candidate in US history, a horrible candidate and a horrible human being. The thought of him winning is unnerving to say the least.

(246 posts)What I don't get is this panglossian attitude that nothing whatsoever is wrong, even though we need to win as many seats in the House and Senate as we can. Anything the excites Republicans to make them think they can win is bad for us, even though it's very likely Clinton becomes president.
Here's a news bulletin: Today we don't control the House and Senate. Republicans will abuse their power as much as they can to take down Hillary.

(112 posts)What is that quote about " best laid plans or mice or men...."
There are too many unaffiliated voters that we have no idea how they are going to vote. You can be optimistic, as you, packman, are, or you can live in the real world like I do.
An aside that could be related: we are becoming a "everything is situational" and there is no wrongdoing. Case: hosts, even Joy Reid, are not pushing back on the Repub and Dem statements that 'the vote is baked in' for the Presidency and Comey won't affect it.
The point is that what Comey did was WRONG and unethical. Regardless of the impact on pres race, he violated the Hatch Act. How can they let it sit there that it doesn't matter.
And, they all agree that it can and likely will matter to the down ballots and the Senate is just almost as important as the President.
So sue me.
