Quite a few horrible events could have been prevented had he acted sooner.

People have been hurt. Others have had their persons violated. I don't even want to think about how much money some people with little money have put into this.

Just let the macing, beating, arrests, dog-kenneling, strip searches and all continue to "play out for several more weeks"?
Not good enough, Mr. President. Aren't you listening?

Odd that there is a drone shot on line that shows the pipeline is heading straight for the river and is nearly there.
They intend to finish by December. If they were really trying to re-route they would not be continuing to work.
And also unexplainable that the oil in the pipeline will be from fracking - here I thought we were trying to move to wind and solar and save the earth !!!!!!

...here's the deal. He gets to play like he actually, you know, gives a shit about us indians, while kicking the can down the road for the next administration to deal with ( who by the way has hinted that she is pro-pipeline) while in the meantime not pissing off the oligarchs.

We’re monitoring this closely. As a general rule, my view is that there is a way for us to accommodate the sacred lands of Native Americans. Right now the Army Corps is examining ways whether there are ways to re-route this pipeline. We’re going to let it play out for several more weeks, and determine whether or not this could be resolved in a way that is properly attentive to the traditions of the First Americans.

Let's not count our chickens before they're hatched. The president doesn't have authority here. Just strong suggestions.

Army Corps of Engineers approval is for things like river crossings and federal land. I'm not sure who has authority over Indian burial grounds that are off the reservation. Or if Obama would be able to honor the older treaty when the land belonged to the tribe. But some liberal lawyers should get on it.

Either way, the original route was further north, and they rerouted because it would be too close to drinking water for other people in that area with much whiter skin, more money, and more power.

I don't want to say it, or believe Obama would play such a game, but I'm smelling some strong bull manure whenever I read this story.
The source certainly is unreliable.

They said they haven't stopped working there, they are already on top of the river, and in the "couple weeks" that Obama says to wait, it will be done, it will be too late. Additionally, the headline for the article is outrageous, it's misleading at best.

Lip service to the causes and issues that have traditionally been the cornerstones of progressive policies and issues (labor, indigenous rights, environmental safety), while never taking enough action to actually piss off the corporations and oligarchs that the party has come to rely on just as much as the Republicans do.

It's no wonder we are perpetually on a treadmill when it comes to progress and progressive issues. The party that is supposed to stand up for the little guy is more than content to do a "1 for you, 1 for me....2 for you, 1, 2 for me...3 for you, 1, 2, 3 for me" approach.

And they wonder why people have issues and concerns with the party as a whole.
