Just tried to early vote in Oklahoma

The line was wrapped around the building 2 to 3 deep. I saw a friend going to her car, she said she waited almost 2 hours to get into the building.
She said she saw a lot of people give up and leave. She said there were a LOT of first time voters of all ages, the line was moving slowly since a lot of those people needed instruction on how to fill out a ballot.

There has to be a better way, to make sure everyone has a chance to vote. It is voter suppression for sure. A lot of people cannot afford the time away from work or their bodies won't take it (like mine).

If this is any indication of what Tuesday will look like, the turnout is going to be amazing.

She's been there nearly three hours already. She took the afternoon off to do this.

Edit: It ended up taking her 4 hours total. She said her feet hurt bad and she felt sorry for the elderly. Really hard on them.

This is good -- but makes me wonder what it's going to be like for those states that don't have early voting (like PA) on election day.

... big lines! Left the first time because I didn't expect it and didn't have time to wait. Went back the next day and waited 1 and 1/2 hours. Took 20 minutes in the primary!

voting in my precinct in OK, I've waited in line once. 2012 general.
The problem with early voting (in person) in OK is that everyone in their respective counties has to vote in the same place.
In my case, it's the Cleveland County Election Board building.

early voting site. It provided some relief for the County Election Board. I talked with one couple behind me and they indicated that the Edmond location didn't have a lot of parking so they came on down to OKC to vote.

It took me about 1.5 hours to vote from the time I parked and got in line.

In Durham they opened 8 new early voting sites last week. i am sure that where they have inadequate facilities it's no accident.

Voting by mail is the way to go.

I voted absentee in FL a week ago, so.easy.

I don't see how a state with any significant population could have everyone vote successfully in 1 day.

Like NY and PENN, f.i.

Of course, maybe that's the idea.

Take pictures of the line. Post them. Offer them to media inside and outside OK, offer them to Democratic HQ, hell, send copies to the DOJ in Washington.

Early voting usually doesn't look like that. Lines are short.

Didn't go there to vote - just happened to see a table set up for early voting so I asked. Nobody else in line. When I voted early in the past I had to go to the courthouse and wait for an hour. This was a piece of cake.

The amendments and judges can take a long time to read. Take cheat sheet to help move the line along. Although I miss going to the polls to cast, I do like mail in because I can do my research as I vote. One of the fastest ways to vote for retaining judges is to see which Governor appointed them. I voted to retain all the judges appointed by Democratic Govs. and to block the ones appointed by Owens (our horrible Repub. Gov. from a few terms back). Not that it will matter. Makes it easier, though.

...early voting is not done at voting precincts. It is usually done at a consolidated facility for the jurisdiction, which means more people and longer lines. That doesn't mean the jurisdiction isn't limiting polling locations and days, but from a practical standpoint, it's not possible to provide the same number of voting places as on election.
