There are not enough ignorant Americans, know-nothing Americans, or Americans driven by pure hatred, to elect Donald Trump to the presidency. Here's why:
American voters elected Barack Obama to the presidency. Twice.
American voters elected Bill Clinton to the presidency. Twice.
American voters elected Al Gore to the presidency. But then five Republican-appointed justices on the Supreme Court, spit on the will of the American voters, and flipped the outcome.
And there's a strong case to be made that the American people elected John Kerry to the presidency in 2004, but that "vote counting irregularities" in Ohio, once again flipped the will of the American people.
Here's a piece of reality. American elections are decided by women (and black and Hispanic minorities who, in coming years, will be majorities). Virtually all of these voters will be casting their ballots for Hillary. (And that includes those wives/sisters/significant others of Trumpites who will swear they will vote for the "Orange Menace." And then, in the privacy of the voting booth, they will smile, stand up straight, and cast their ballots for Hillary.)
There's the possibility that next Tuesday's election will be a blowout: A landslide for Hillary Clinton. So get out there, vote, and be a part of it.
And late next Tuesday night, bask in the reality that a madman was shunned by a vast majority of American voters.
And yes, there will still be battles after that. But one thing at a time. Focus. Next Tuesday will be the beginning of the turning point.

(413 posts)The Demographics that the Republicans depend on is thankfully dying off
We've been saying for years that they needed to reach out to minorities and women but they scoffed at the notion.
Tuesday night we pop champagne and celebrate the big win, Thursday we nurse our hangovers, but Friday morning we hit the ground running and get back to work!

(798 posts)And since what happened in 2000 and 2004, Americans have made sure to vote in numbers large enough to prevent "funny business" in tabulating the results.

(18,705 posts)Things are changing in this country.
The majority of this country are democrats.
Not the party of hate.
It started with President Obama and will continue with President Clinton.
The horses are out of barn as my Grandmother would have said.
We are not going back.
What we are seeing is the last noise coming out of a smaller and smaller group of people.
All we have to do is stand up to these cowards.
I am not afraid of them.

(20,692 posts)Many women have so many responsibilities, they can run out of time or energy to follow politics.
Many women have a job(s), children, and maybe needy parents or other family members. Home upkeep, groceries, laundry, you never get it all done. They're already keeping so many plates in the air, political details are just not a possibility.
I think this dumpster fire has caught their attention, and they're pissed, now. Good.
That is the upside of having dozens of "news" channels and social media.
