The presidential election of 1908.

Why 1908?

Because that was the last year that the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.

The Republican convention was in Chicago that year.

Theodore Roosevelt, the Progressive, chose not to run that year and threw his support behind William Howard Taft.

Eugene Debs, the Socialist, was also on the ticket that year.

Taft won the Electoral vote by 321 - 162.
