They are still using that excuse for Trump's excuse!

(111,339 posts)thanks to the moron Republicans shutting the government down. I got stuck in an IRS computer feedback loop. After visits to the office and submitting multiple copies of the return, I sat on my hands until I got a nasty letter about not submitting a return that year with somebody's name on it. My return letter probably singed the hair in his nose because I got my refund three weeks later.
The IRS can be weird, yo, especially if your return is complicated. There is no reason not to let someone see your return no matter if it is being audited. The IRS itself has said that.

(45,806 posts)In a complex audit, the taxpayer rarely brings every bit of documentation with them at the first meeting. They are ordered to return with the require info in xxx days/weeks. There are all kind of ways to extend that time. At each meeting the taxpayer is missing yet another document. I NEVER side with the Con, but in this case it COULD BE TRUE.

Of course it would have taken all of ten minutes of research to figure out there really was no issue in the first place.

I would hope the next President would recommend an FBI Taskforce to investigate his finances and to see why there are so many audits? He has not paid any federal income taxes for many years, yet he continues to brag about how much money he has made. I think the FBI should do a thorough investigation.
