IMO, I think he will find the job too much trouble and will leave us with Pence.

(65,133 posts)This is a one dollar bet with another billionaire that americans were so stupid that he could run for president and win.
He wins a dollar for a gig he really didn't want.

(67,112 posts)Americans that can be convinced to vote for me (Trump)! He's just not cut of the cloth to be a president, it's going to consume all of his time ... and I bet he ends up totally hating the job. ... plus, he has no idea what he's doing.

(65,133 posts)That's why they're so unprepared. Even they didn't think they would win.

(67,112 posts)I used to be around. It was a look of total WTF, kinda like being in shock.
The job of president requires all of the skill sets he lacks. He is just so woefully unprepared and unskilled. Now, his ego is completely at risk.
I wonder if he even knows how the US government operates. And, being a bully with a handful of cash and strings of obnoxious attacks won't hack it as president. He's got the world to deal with.

(65,133 posts). . .some awfully influential and powerful people with their own power infrastructure in Washington who aren't just going to do his bidding on command.

(67,112 posts)the levers of power in DC ... he was amazed.
So many with their own agendas and powerful infrastructures, and presidents are just passing through.

He rode down that escalator thinking what a great terrific marketing scheme.
The sad thing is it got out of control, for him, and because of his ego, he couldn't step away.
I noticed the last 2 weeks he was even more egregious as to what he was saying, I think with the hope that he would piss enough of the electorate off that Hilary would win easily, and he could go on with his "Trump TV" and other scams he had planned.
He didn't realize the cesspool of discontent he riled up with his hateful words. And now, here we are.

(7,018 posts)has requested a postponement until after Jan. 20th. He is being sued by many of
the students of his now defunct "Trump University " (which had never been
officially recognized as one). Some of the students had paid as much as
$35,000.
Trump is also being investigated for his income taxes as well as "Trump Charities."
He does have a lot of problems all right, but seems to be able to carry on without
being bothered too much by them.

(36,926 posts)He will only leave through losing in 2020, a definite possibility, IF we can find another Barack Obama to run against him; illness; or impeachment, if he doesn't completely go along with his far right handlers' agendas, doubtful. So that, realistically, leaves us with winning the next presidential election. My guess is that so much damage will have been done to peoples' lives, including Republicans', that we can take back the White House. But the search for a charismatic candidate needs to begin NOW. Only person I can think of is Martin O'Malley.

(35,445 posts)No more beauty pageants. No more grabbing women whenever he wants. Having to answer to people every damn day. Getting heat from the national media. Hated in his home town of NY. Soon to be hated in Florida.
He's a blue state, billionaire that once could do whatever he wanted. Now, he has to be a grown up, and it's killing him.

(34,195 posts)Trumps people some months ago were trying to get Gov Kasich of Ohio to come on board by saying he could be the V.P. nominee and given the duties of domestic and foreign affairs.
When asked, what would Trump do, he was told Trump would travel around making America great again.
Ive also heard when Trump talked with Obama at the White House, Trump was shocked to hear what all the job of President entails.
I think he wanted the prestige of the job, but not the actual work.
Maybe he'll have his children run the country.

(309 posts)This man is not about putting in the work. He ran because he felt humiliated and wanted to command the respect of the Manhattan and political elites. He was a laughingstock and they dared to laugh in his face. He sought the Oval as vengeance. They would have to respect him if he were Pres, right? And he could just dump all of the real work on his kids and others, as he usually does, right?
Wrong. Even being the President doesn't necessarily guarantee people will respect or like you. And, as is being reported, he is finding out he can't dump his duties on his kids and Pence as he expected. There are laws in place to protect us from this very sort of thing. (Though, it appears we may need more!) He will have to do the work. He will have to be accountable and yes, he is absolutely miserable.

(14,341 posts)If he was even capable of being honest with himself he would realize that he is in WAY over his head, and find a graceful exit.
Not this guy, he'll fumble his way through it to the bitter end.

(22,336 posts)I think there's a good likelihood of that, and that might be why Paul Ryan et al are playing nice with him at the moment. They know they'll be in the driver's seat soon enough. But Pence won't be a great improvement.

(22,336 posts)Although it would be a huge hit against the GOP for a republican president to be removed from office in disgrace. At least there'd be that.
It'll be ugly no matter what though. And I don't think the midterms will help. Too much gerrymandering.
