The father of a soldier who was killed in a deadly attack in Afghanistan told Army Times that he and his family were booed by their fellow passengers as they flew to meet his son's remains at Dover Air Force Base.
Stewart Perry and his wife and daughter on Monday flew from Sacramento to Philadelphia, with a layover in Phoenix. From Philadelphia, they took ground transportation to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

(47,953 posts)Is there any video evidence, or other witnesses? I say this because I was on a flight recently where they were transporting the remains of a soldier KIA, and the person assigned to escort those remains was treated with the utmost respect and allowed to deplane before any of us. Dead silence during his departure.
I have never heard any soldier booed on a plane or in an airport during my life, even after the Iraq war went south.

(3,557 posts)As a veteran of the war on Iraq myself, I've never once experienced anything but the utmost respect from from everyone regardless of their personal support for the war.
Like most of my veteran peers, we joined the Army to make the world a better place. I personally was stupid to trust our politicians, but I joined with a heart of gold.
People on both sides of the political spectrum seem to understand that.

(32,610 posts)The first class passengers were NOT told they were a gold star family. They were just told they were trying to make a connection.
I think this father is pushing the story because he wants money.
