CNN Unsure If Trump Should Take Political Risk Of Acknowledging Jews Are People

If you tuned in to CNN earlier today, you might have found yourself greeted by a chyron that could have been ripped straight out of a Newt Gingrich Nazi fanfic: Alt-Right Founder Questions If Jews Are People. The real question, of course, is whether our president-elect should distance himself from an explicit group of neo-Nazis. And according to CNN, the answer is a resounding “WEELLLL ...”

Watching ostensibly educated adults grapple with whether our soon-to-be president should take the political risk of denouncing a strain of outright neo-Nazism that poses the question of whether Jews are actually human beings is a bizarre and wholly insane experience, so let’s walk through this together.

An anchor whom no one seems to be able to name but who looks suspiciously like Jason Sudeikis in Mitt Romney makeup starts us on our journey:

Richard Spencer, he’s the man who actually coined that term, “alt-right.” He was in Washington this weekend. He was spewing, as he often does, what I can only describe as hate-filled garbage. Of Jews, Spencer said ... “One wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem.

Does President Trump need to formally denounce and disavow these groups as a whole?

It seems like this country went from day to night just overnight from November 8th to November 9th, and there hasn't been ANY light since.

Given we have had practice with this in the past, both left and right versions, we are now going to see those versions become more and more mainstream. The real question is whether other people will actually have a problem with it, or continue to ignore it has they have done in the past.

That while there have numerous anti-Semitism-related incidents involving the Trump campaign he has top advisors and family members who are members of the Jewsih faith.

On the other hand, Trump has an intimate familiarity with Jewish practice and Jewish life. His daughter, Ivanka, converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2009; if elected, Trump would be the first president to be the parent and grand-parent of observant Jews. Ivanka’s husband, real-estate magnate Jared Kushner, is an Orthodox Jew and one of Trump’s top advisers. The Trump Organization’s longtime chief financial officer and general counsel are both observant Jews, and Trump has the support of perhaps the single most important political donor in the American Jewish world—Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. Though he is a deeply repellent political figure to many American Jews, Trump can plausibly claim that Jews and Judaism are closer to the center of his life and work than they are for his opponent, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

To me Trump is an enigma. So is the fact that it appears he has the strong support of so many people and groups who are anti-Semitic.

There are times that I feel I have stepped into a parallel universe. Things here make little or no sense.I have no idea how to get back the sensible universe I came from but I'm trying my best.

As for "top members" of this staff, there is his SIL and Adelson, not a huge number. Also, he has Kellyanne Conway/Corey Lewandowski/Allen West, so should we also "be fair" and mention her/him/him anytime there are accusations of sexism/homophobia/racism from his camp?

The concept you are using is "some of this best friends are..." and it never justifies nor excuses someone from bigotry. I understand you aren't trying to do it, but this "concept" has already been used by the media and others to claim something is/isn't anti-Semitism. The anti-Semitism coming from the campaign trail and now the in-coming administration and its lackeys is real. Bigotry against Jews is real. We are real.

I tried to get across the point I understood you weren't defending the president-elect or anti-Semitism. I was trying to explain, from a Jewish perspective, what those words mean to me and how I find them offensive because it attempts to mitigate or lessen the charges of anti-Semitism by claiming "some of his best friends are...".

As for the soon to be "Conspirator and Cheat", he is nothing but loyal to himself and maybe his family, if it suits his needs and desires. The only thing to understand about that orange slug is he is an amoral sack of shit, who works on baser animal instincts and desires, which may be the source of confusion for anyone with a soul, intelligence, and compassion.

The poisoning of the American mind against all Muslims, regardless of nationality or any other factor was aptly done throughout the campaign by the Trumpenfuhrer. Once they're disposed of the next available scapegoats, particulary with the advice of Bannon and the alt-Reich are, as always, the Jews. Good thing Israel has the right of return.
