--it was Trump who tried to change the rules. Anyway, Mr. President-Elect, no reason to be scared of Times journalists!

(14,971 posts)coming out on Trump's big off the record media meeting yesterday where he supposedly excoriated the press. Since the NY Post was the first one contacted, my guess is him.

(7,633 posts)or maybe he was just lucky and them chasing ratings or some combo thereof.
I think there's an argument to be made that him controlling what press gets any access to his admin may be the start of something real un-American.
He wants to limit 1st amendment remedies.
Maybe start his own little media empire as we imagined he do once he lost the election. Make that the only official outlet for news of any kind regarding government since he now controls all three branches.
How the hell did this ever happen? I hope there's some serious behind the scenes efforts going on to overturn the results of his election somehow, someway.
But given how the leadership of the D Party that lead to this nightmare has been so willing to roll over like good blue dogs, I hold out little hope.

(9,753 posts)Unless and until the manifest unfitness -- to the point of mental illness -- that many of us ascribe to Trump is shared by everybody else. We are not there yet. We might never be there. Most Trumpsters are still gung-ho. An administration -- however dysfunctional and hunchbacked -- is coming together.
Trump is going to drive the family car off the lot and into traffic. And then?

(7,633 posts)Only thing half-way positive is getting some good comedy out of the situation cause the funny guys are on our side.
But the damage world-wide will be immeasurably disastrous at this point.

(1,369 posts)Now our news is a "He said, he said" kind of crap?
There is a little hope that with trump speaking all these delusionary stories that maybe, just maybe, the journalists will get angry enough and remember their passion that they went into journalism to begin with and start writing the truth.
