Bernie Sanders Just Outsmarted Trump And Made Him Look Clueless On Infrastructure Bill

(Bumped out of LBN, reposting in GD)

In a savvy political move, Sen. Bernie Sanders outsmarted the President-elect by reintroducing his own $1 trillion infrastructure spending bill, which offers Democrats an alternative to the Trump plan that Sanders labeled a “scam.”

In a post on Medium, Sen. Sanders wrote: During the presidential campaign, Donald Trump correctly talked about rebuilding our country’s infrastructure. But the plan he offered is a scam that gives massive tax breaks to large companies and billionaires on Wall Street who are already doing phenomenally well. Trump would allow corporations that have stashed their profits overseas to pay just a fraction of what the companies owe in federal taxes. And then he would allow the companies to “invest” in infrastructure projects in exchange for even more tax breaks. Trump’s plan is corporate welfare coming and going.
...

The move by Sen. Sanders was politically smart because it provided Democrats with another option to bring to the table. Democrats aren’t going to have to choose whether or not support Trump’s tax cuts as infrastructure spending plan. They can back Sen. Sanders plan that would create new jobs by spending directly on infrastructure projects. Experts have concluded that what Trump calls infrastructure spending is nothing more than a tax cut for the rich.

There are serious questions about whether or not Trump will have the Republican votes in Congress to pass his infrastructure bill. If Trump ends up needing Democrats votes, it will be the legislation of Sen. Sanders that may end up being part of any compromise that is reached.

Bernie Sanders just pulled off a clever move that painted President-elect Trump into a corner and made the prospects of passage for his infrastructure bill much dicier.

If this works, dems will be able to steal back the glory tRump would otherwise benefit from passing his own infrastructure bill, could help us in the midterms.

(It would be greatly appreciated if we all do our best to not use this thread about Bernie's strong, positive-for-Progressives action to bash him. Can we please try to integrate our strengths instead of being divisive? Thanks in advance )

In a way that even morons can understand, how this Trump infrastructure tax cut plan is supposed to work.

If it's as bad an idea as it sounds, even the republicans won't support it. Kind of like Bush's social security in the stock market scam. Once word got out, even the true believers jumped away from it.

This thing is not getting enough attention.

They are for the 1% 100% of the time and pro-working class - NEVER. GW knew how to steal elections, but he didn't know the hitlerian speech patterns and hate talk that don the con uses to rile up the undereducated and racist haters and pretend that up = down and right = wrong. Repugs will fall all over themselves promoting this infrastructure theft that drumpfs' planning. they will takie America's assets and give them away to the monied class and even to foreign nations to destroy our transportation system for the working class and enrich the robber barons. Bet they will have to pay Drumpf lots of $ for the privilege of raping us! Can you name even one Repug that would oppose this, I can't.

To kiss Trump's ass. If one could make opposing this particular plan look like something a leader would do, you could get republicans looking to 2020 to challenge him on it.

I remember Obama in his first term had an ambitious Jobs bill, and the Rethug congress wouldn't even allow it it come to a vote.
