Get ready. It'll be okay...you'll get a set voucher amount and be tossed to the mercies of private insurance in your old age. I'm sure the voucher will cover the costs. Hey, we need to reward the "job creators" right?
Regarding Social Security.
Why do the easy fix and just lift the cap for those making over $100K and have them contribute when you can instead privatize it to enrich Wall St. You know...the "job creators".
Oh, and since Social Security is not a retirement program but rather an insurance program used by all ages to keep them from falling destitute so...well...good luck.
And here's the kicker. These two insurance programs exist by all of us paying in to them over our lifetimes. If those over 55 think they are immune then they are not looking at this correctly. When you remove 55 and younger from these insurance pools it will indeed affect everyone. The over 55 "will not be affected" is therefore a hustle, a sales pitch, a scam, a con job if you will.
"...we first and foremost must not change anything for those ages 55 and older. These folks rely on their benefits and we've made a promise to them. But for younger workers, we need to provide Medicare subsidies for the purchase of certified private plans, raise the retirement age, encourage greater retirement savings, and launch an initiative of Personal Retirement Accounts to allow every American, not just the wealthy, to save and invest toward their retirement."

(14,918 posts)This is another "divide and conquer" scheme. We need to be united in fighting for our rights, and you are quite correct that if vouchers are introduced it will eventually wreck the system for everyone, including those who are already over 55.

(3,251 posts)They would never be able to be enough when the premiums go through the fucking roof when seniors are dumped into those "exchanges." You think the premiums are high now, wait until the seniors are dumped in.
At the same time, employers will ditch medical coverage altogether.
Seniors by definition are uninsurable. EVERYBODY would be screwed with the Ryan plan except for rich bastards who don't need health insurance at all and can pay cash.

(108,980 posts)thanks to Obamacare. Simple fixes would solve the problem before we're over the baby boomer hump.

(32,610 posts)credit voucher will be related to the amount they have paid in over their work life or if every enrollee will get a voucher for the exact same amount.

(32,610 posts)I am certain I know way more about this issue than you do. It is a big deal and I want to know what is in the bill. You OBVIOUSLY have no answer.
Trump will sign whatever Ryan puts on his desk so why don't you get some facts and spend time talking to Republicans who voted for these idiots like I am doing. It shakes them to their core but they need to know facts and calling it libertarian crapola accomplishes nothing with Republicans who need to be contacting their House members.

(39,313 posts)Clinton won them by only 10% and 10% voted third party.
About half the number of eligible voters between the ages of 18 and 29 (whom well refer to as millennials, although millennials also include people in their early-to-mid-30s) cast ballots in this election. That rate falls well below the estimated general voter turnout rate of roughly 58 percent. About 55 percent of those millennial voters supported Clinton, as compared to the 60 percent who supported Obama in 2012, according to CIRCLEs analysis. Conversely, youth support from Republicans remained relatively constant: Trump got about 37 percent of the youth vote, roughly equivalent to what Mitt Romney received in 2012.

(5,313 posts)I'm in both of them but not using Medicare yet because I still work and have company insurance.
Don't really think the R's will mess with the 55 and over group because they know this group will vote them out of office in a heartbeat.
But then again, if they package it and sell it just right the older R voter just might be convinced to fuck themselves one more time for the Trumpster.

No health insurance for you!
I guess the Medi-dont-care vouchers may cover some higher end pet food. Y'know with vitamins and electrolytes.
