The reason Trump "attacked" the media?

He's setting the ground rules.

If you want to talk with the Donald, you will have to be nice to him. Otherwise, he will go around you.

His hope is that the media will soften their approach to any coverage about him and his multitude of problems.

He is playing the media again.

There are other reasons, also.

Remember, this Slug has to throw some red meat to his Nazi followers. Same crap happened in Germany in 1933 and finally the press was nationalized.

It is all about Donald Trump and no one else.

By marginalizing the press he has taken away the American institution of free speech. The final nail in this coffin will be net neutrality at which point he will own the only information channels his minions will be connected to.
Kinda like twitter is operating for him.

First, he'll block offending journalists from the White House Press Pool, and give credentials to bogus media on the right to replace those blocked from White House events. He'll stop giving White House press conferences or never start giving them. Instead, he'll reward loyal news people with exclusive interviews.

The White House can cut off the press's sources of news quite easily. He can starve the press out if he chooses. I suspect he will so choose.
