BERLIN/JERUSALEM, Nov 22 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government is concerned that white supremacists in the United States are being emboldened by the election of Donald Trump and is watching developments closely, senior officials told Reuters.

But one senior official close to Merkel described the video - which shows a speaker shouting “Hail Trump” and some audience members making the Nazi salute - as “repulsive and worrying.”

“One of the greatest mistakes humanity ever made was a failure to recognize the danger of fascism early enough and tackle it head on,” said Lapid. “We cannot let history repeat itself.”

A spokesman for the Trump-Pence transition team said on Monday that Trump “continued to denounce racism of any kind” and was elected to be “a leader for every American.”

In the video, taken inside the conference and published by The Atlantic, Richard Spencer, a leader of the “alt-right” movement, says America belongs to white people, who he describes as “children of the sun.” He denounces the movement’s critics as “the most despicable creatures who ever walked the planet.”

“Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!” Spencer shouts at one point as some members of the audience raise their arms in the Nazi salute.

5. My neighbor told me there was news footage following the election

of Israelis celebrating Trump's victory. I told her I was certain that could not convey the view of all Israelis, then I expressed some profane disbelief. There is nothing more dangerous to Jews that the resurgence of the anti-semitic, white supremacy that Trump has unleashed. Any happenstance of agreement on the Iran nuclear deal doesn't begin to outweigh that.

Scares me that the violence is escalating. I live in a very blue State. It is happening here. One a few miles from me. Another in Boston. Three 15 year old girls went after a woman on a train. Said she was an immigrant and should go home. When she tried to leave they punched in the face several times with a cell phone. They were charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
