As I watch people running around shopping and getting ready for a season of excess consumption with excessive trash I get the impression that many of them do not care who is in power. So we have a real lunatic in the White House and a bunch barbarians in Congress. No big deal really. Does not effect me is the attitude.

(27,815 posts)There's a difference between wanting to forget the election in order to enjoy the holidays, and not having been bothered to pay attention to the election in the first place.
I think a lot of us will use the upcoming holidays to focus on other things. And it's a god time to do so.
The mess we have to deal with will still be there in January.

The last time a candidate that I voted for in the primary won was 24 years ago.
I have a philosophical issue with voting for what I don't want. I feel by doing so, I own it. So most of my votes in the general election are me caving on my principles.
