How does one get on the Sunday morning news shows?

Is it by invitation only? Can one petition to be on the show? We complain about the predominance of republican voices on these shows, but do the dems make an effort to get on them? If they aren't being invited, what can be done about that? A write-in campaign? Along similar lines, why haven't the dems hired someone like George Lakoff, to help frame the issues to our advantage, much like how Frank Luntz frames the issues for the repubs. For example, the estate tax = death tax.
