Have Privilege? You can help those who don't.
A Trump administration will affect different groups in different ways. Some of us, who have substantial privilege for things like being white, male, straight and educated, will probably suffer less than others. Where we can, we should strive to help those who do not have the same privilege.
We can stand up for them. We can have their backs. We can defend them in many ways. I think that is the least we can do to make the best use we can of the privilege we have. Mostly, privilege is unearned, except maybe for education. Let's all try to use what we have to help those who aren't so lucky.
That's my plan, anyhow. I live in a very diverse neighborhood in a very diverse city. Many people with little privilege are my neighbors. Others are people I know or to whom I am related. I'll be letting them know that I will help any way I can if a Trump administration threatens them with anything at all.
