Democrats Demand Trumps Tax Returns And An Investigation Into His Conflicts Of Interest
By Jason Easley on Mon, Nov 28th, 2016 at 3:11 pm
House Oversight Committee Democrats are demanding that President-elect Trump releases his tax returns and that an immediate investigation is launched into Trumps conflicts of interest.
In a letter to House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. Jason Chaffetz(R-UT), the committees Democrats wrote:
The House Oversight Democrats argued that the Trump familys global holdings will create conflicts of interest around the world.
Republicans are already treating Trump differently than they treated President Obama. During his time in office, Obama has dealt with a House Republican majority that spent years investigating baseless conspiracy theories, but when presented with a president-elect who has refused all calls for transparency, these same House Republicans have chosen to look the other way.
The Trump conflict of interest story is not going to go away. It will likely be a theme of his presidency.

(28,799 posts)congresspeople appreciate that this must be acted upon. if pressure from the people is not brought to bear this will come to nothing. even with it, it could come to nothing. these are republicans we're talking about.

(32,688 posts)the republicans in congress will join Democratic members in removing him.
They want Pence.

(8,377 posts)They already have Pence. Trump doesn't give a shit about governing. He will let Pence do hat he wants who Trump is busy lining his pockets through graft. No way the GOP overturns Trump unless he does something that makes him EXTREMELY unpopular -- so unpopular that the GOP fears they would lose both houses in 2018.
And considering Trump is an admitted sex offender and there were no consequences to that, I am having trouble envisioning what he could possibly do to drop to the level that the GOP would decide to knock him off.
He is pals with Putin. No consequences.
He violated the law about business with Cuba. No consequences.
He is already using his future office to get concessions for Trump hotels. No consequences.
Seriously, what would he have to do? Trump himself said he could shoot a man dead on 5th Avenue and there would be no consequences. I think he is right.

(13,870 posts)This may be an effective means of countering Trump even if the Republican's hold the power in the legislature. Work on swaying the public perception of Trump with a view toward the mid-terms and 2020.

Who does he owe money to, is it the Chinese or the Russians?
Turning over business to kids, is a joke, he will still be making all the decisions.
