4. When my rw relatives speak of him, they don't mean "The Jews".

He's an ultra-rich left wing individual who plans and supports all kinds of liberal policies and propaganda, they say. I don't believe they even think about him being Jewish. Now, the people who send out those e-mails with all those nutty conspiracy theories attributed to him, those people may mean "The Jews" when they refer to Soros, and my RW relatives are too thick to pick up on it.

...and never about the mega-yacht full of people doing it bigger, deeper, and for longer on the other side.

The fact that he's a European Jewish guy with a name that's sort of "generic European" is sort of a bonus for them: the anti-semites can hear the dog-whistle, but others don't notice that and to them he's a rich foreigner meddling in our affairs.

I assumed many people didn't like/trust him because 1) He's big money and 2) a globalist.

I can't even count the crazy paranoid conspiracy theories I've heard my RW relatives lay on him. For example, I've been told that Soros owns Snopes and all similar sites, therefore nothing that is written on those sites can be trusted. He hires and transports paid protesters for demonstrations and paid audiences for rallies held by Democratic candidates. And on and on and on. Just the other day my father told me Soros is funding the recount effort. It's insane.

It's been going on since at least three presidential elections ago. They have the meme stuck in their thoughtless heads.

Just as obvious as those who drone on about the "Jewish" lobby. Apparently, some anti-Semitism ain't so bad depending on who's saying it. I always find it funny, how some can see the anti-Semitism when it is a single person, but when it is all Jews, it some how befuddles them as to how it is anti-Semitic.

I personally think it has to do with their side having so many powerful billionaires continuously fucking around with our politics. I think they have a deep seated need to believe that "both sides are doing it".

Right-wingers would be nowhere without their big-dollar patrons Rupert Murdoch, Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, the Waltons, the Tysons. Soros gives to moderate and progressive NGOs a mere fraction of what any one of these figures gives. But of course since the Right is insecure about their own dependence on fatcat bankrolling, they have to project that Dems are run by a fatcat of omniscient power and unlimited resources. Soros is neither of those things.

17. Jewy McJewstein. Same reason Trump kept bringing up Sid Blumenthal

Anti-semitism is "cool" again, don't you know?

But it's the same reason Trump kept bringing up Sid Blumenthal in the debate. And, I mean, I'm not particularly a fan of Sid, but bringing him up as a Svnegali had absolutely zero to do with anything he's done and everything to do with the name "Blumenthal".

18. Because "Liberals get their marching orders straight from the Kremlin"...

...hasn't held water for a quarter century, and they needed a boogeyman for liberals to be minions of.

Also, it's a classic case of "if you want to know what conservatives are up to, look at what they're accusing liberals of doing."

You won't see any sign of context: They're not big on side-by-side comparisons. Charles and David Koch between them have about 3 times what Soros does, plus Adelson, the Walton family, Coors family, and not just a raft of other rich right-wingers and foundations but a whole marina of them. They've devoted more resources, over a longer period of time, more strategically than Soros and other "liberal cause" donors have.
