Warren Watch: Debbie Reynolds believed in Buffett

Actress and singer Debbie Reynolds sat in the front row of a meeting room at the Omaha Marriott as she and about 75 reporters and photographers waited for a press conference with Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Chairman Warren Buffett and Vice Chairman Charlie Munger.
She had met Buffett in 1999 when she was in Omaha to perform with the Omaha Symphony at the Orpheum Theater. She bought stock in Berkshire, and Buffett invited her back for the 2001 shareholder meeting and other events that weekend.
We had a couple of great dinners together, Buffett told me in an email after Reynolds death last week at age 84. She was the real McCoy. Her grace and charm were lavished on everyone, regardless of status.
On that Sunday afternoon in 2001, her son, Todd Fisher, said it was OK to interview her during the lull, so she and I talked about why she was in Omaha.
