When the Gulf Stream stops and Europe freezes will 88 universities stop supporting GW denial?

Scientists tell us the Gulf Stream is slowing down due to melting ice. If the Gulf Stream stops it is predicted that temperatures in Europe could drop dramatically. US inaction on global warming will get much of the blame.

Americans, not Republicans, will get the blame.

There is no excuse for 88 universities to continue to help 257 Limbaugh stations deny global warming across the country.

What if those stations, emboldened by a Trump ‘presidency’, drop the ‘subtlety’ of excusing racism on a daily basis and go full out KKK? Would that be enough?

Those schools have no excuse not to begin looking for apolitical alternatives to broadcast sports on. The university enters a contract with a licensing company, the licensing company takes money from or pays the station so the station can broadcast games, and the licensing company pays the university. The radio stations uses the university’s community credibility and visibility to attract advertisers to pay for the global warming denial on behalf of the Kochs, Putin, Exxon, etc. The radio broadcasting part of those licensing revenues is minor compared with TV.

What’s so hard about telling the licensing company to look for apolitical alternatives?

Most of those associations began long before Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine in 1987 and the stations were converted from music, current events, and community-related stations into components of an anti-democratic pro-corporate propaganda operation. The schools are being used. If those schools took their mission statements seriously they would end those associations now, before it’s too late. And with Trump for two years, we may be getting very close to ‘too late’.

Trump will depend on those stations heavily to continue to deny global warming, excuse his fascism, enable and intimidate media, keep the GOP voting in lock step, and attack his critics.

Until they do dissociate from the Republican talk radio PSYOPS those schools are legitimate locations to protest Trump and Republicans on any major issue. They actually may be the best locations to protest because protests at other locations are usually shouted over by a few talk radio screamers hiding behind call screeners.

If universities begin to look for alternatives many of those stations will have to look to alternative programming. Many of the RW stations parasitizing our universities are the loudest in the country and would no longer be able to deny global warming denial and help Trump.

The 88 deplorable universities in 40 states, helping 257 Limbaugh/Trump stations:

- deny global warming

- excuse and rationalize racism, sexism, ignorance, hate, and Trump

- lie and sell the corporate/Republican/anti-democratic agenda, including the death of net neutrality

- defund and profitize public education, obstruct student debt relief, and attack teachers and professors

they know they can't compete with truth and facts so they rely on liberals thinking their propaganda operation is an expression of free speech and market demand - as if 95% of americans prefer the lies and hate of limbaugh and sons.

liberal talkers compete and beat them on an even playing field, which is why they work hard to minimize those occurrences- they bought up 1200 radio stations after reagan killed the fairness doctrine in '87 and have been using it to dominate media and politics in the us ever since.

and liberals continue the biggest political mistake in history by ignoring it.

For 20 years, we've let them take it while we complain. We have as many rich liberals as they have conservatives. We can win if we tried.

That's what I think too, but even on DU there are those who throw up the Air America experience & then claim that we can't compete. I say, the dems never really tried. They have not come near to putting in the same time, energy & resources as the right has.
