*GRAPHIC* Why would the DRUMPFsters object to Rebecca FERGUSON singing "Strange Fruit"?!1

She's been asked to perform at the (sticks in my throat: ) inauguration, but will only do it if she can sing this.

"Strange Fruit" is a song performed most famously by Billie Holiday, who first sang and recorded it in 1939. Written by teacher Abel Meeropol as a poem and published in 1937, it protested American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans. Such lynchings had reached a peak in the South at the turn of the century, but continued there and in other regions of the United States.[2][3] ,,,

The song continues to be covered by numerous artists, and has inspired novels, other poems, and other creative works. In 1978, Holiday's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.[4] It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. ....

In October 1939, Samuel Grafton of The New York Post described "Strange Fruit": "If the anger of the exploited ever mounts high enough in the South, it now has its Marseillaise."

But maybe put a warning up. My morning got thrown off after seeing that picture.

That said it would be awesome if that song was sung.

exemplified in his nomination acceptance speech. By the bye, the speechwriter behind that speech will also be doing the honors for the (sticks in my throat: ) inauguration address. Should be FUN FUN FUN!1

request, and that didn't seem to help. If I left the pic to be clicked-on just with the link, there's no guarantee that somebody who would later object wouldn't similarly click on the link. The only other alternative I can think of is not to post at all.

of this photo years ago. Have one prominently displayed to always remind me of the genocidal nature of ameriKKKan culture. This was a lynching picnic, quite common in those days. Trumpfuhrer voters are carbon copies of those whites in this crowd. There are many other photos of those days and the joyous crowds celebrating.......I truly hope IF she is going to perform for the Racist-in-Chief, that this gets sung....won't happen but nice thought spitting their racism BACK into their faces for once.....

The German Fascist’s (aka Nazi’s) learned a lot about their dirty business from us here in the states.

It is well documented that Hitler’s cabal modeled their eugenics, propaganda and race segregation tactics after what they saw here. There are may well written pieces on the subject, just to cite a few:
