FOX was ready to pay out $20 million a year for Kelly to stay.

I get the feeling that Trump would use his vantage of the WH to manipulate how Kelly would do her job at FOX, whether it be content or future job security. For example, if Kelly would have to promise never to criticize Trump. I think she jumped ship to avoid just that.
