With a Republican-controlled Congress and an incoming presidential administration that has threatened to repeal the Affordable Care Act, health care coverage for about 184,000 West Virginians lies in the balance. Many of the patients who visit Planned Parenthood’s West Virginia clinic are covered by Medicaid, which the state chose to expand in 2013 under the ACA.

“West Virginia is one of the states that’s benefited the most from that expansion, and we are part of that,” said Alisa Clements, director of public affairs for Planned Parenthood’s South Atlantic affiliate.
