How the Republican Party sold its soul?

At one time, they were all "Reagan conservatives". Very few supported Donald Trump in the primaries.

But then, he won. And they all convinced themselves that he was someone he was not. They actually were persuaded that he was a conservative. After all, he agreed with them on some important issues. But, he was no "conservative".

They are all standing behind Donald Trump now, many out of pure fear of him. They are now Trump Republicans. Ronald Reagan? Who's he?
