I hope I'm raising my sons to be so.

My 15 yo is a camp counselor this month. It's a non-denom xtian camp (we're mainstream presbys). Mostly fun and games, some Bible study.

I'm a cynic and worried a bit about the religious element. We checked it out and know the directors but still...we knew he had a strong enough foundation to reject any Fundy stuff if it came up.

We were talking the other night and he brought up how women are portrayed in the Bible - as property, as mostly helpless. He said so many xtians don't bother realizing that this is a book from long ago.

"Women can take care of themselves, " he said to me. It led to a discussion of the right's current war on women and he had quite a lot to say about the stupidity of men who don't value women.

I'm a woman in a home of men. My guys make me proud.
