Watching The Golden Globes Tonight it reminded me how you interacted with Trump the night you had him on your show..Clowning around, messing up his hair, just playing to the audience. illustrating how Don is just one of the guys.. Fuck you Fallon.. Ill never watch your show again..
and thank you so much Meryl..Reminding us of how our country must address the fact that Donald Trump
presents such a danger to our way of life.

(6,409 posts)He's a talk show host. It's his job to be friendly and jovial with his guests.

(8,515 posts)Be jovial with a guy who permeates hate... Nothing more than a homophobic, misogynistic, nationalist hater.. Just be friendly and jovial Jimmy.. Wow...

(6,409 posts)The actual reporters, those whose job it is to ask tough questions. Fallon's job is to entertain, to make people laugh, not to cross examine his guests.
busterbrown
(8,515 posts)But he certainly didnt entertain me or thousands of others who hate Trumps ugliness and ended up watching his show that night..Ill say it again... Fuck you Jimmy Fallon...

(6,409 posts)If we view it, follow it, consume it, etc. It is shallow and annoying. I try to avoid watching when there is somebody I don't like.

(14,854 posts)I remember one show in particular in which each performer got five minutes to do a character of their own creation, and after watching one excruciatingly annoying character named The Masshole, I wanted to walk out. But I stayed to support Oscar.
The Masshole bit was just five minutes of a guy doing a bad Boston accent. No jokes. Just an accent, like My brudda pahked his cahr in the yahd not fahr from Havaaad Yahd. Its a wicked Camaraaa I remember thinking at the end of the gig, Dont quit your day job, kid.
That kid was Jimmy Fallon.
And now, many years later, the unthinkable has happened: Jimmy Fallon is everywhere. Forget his day job, the kid now has the most desirable job in comedy.
I know that the world is a cruel, unjust, chaotic place. I just dont understand how mealy-mouthed Jimmy Fallon became host of The Tonight Show.
Hes not funny. Hes not a good actor. Hes not a good interviewer. And so far, he has yet to have an original idea.
Fallon is the kind of guy that pulls out an acoustic guitar at a party and does a Neil Young impersonation or takes someones sunglasses and pretends to be Stevie Wonder.

(8,515 posts)But I would never publicly criticize him... unless his humor ends up hurting people.
His playing around with Trump the night he had him on his show, illustrated his intentions of only worrying about his ratings.. Not Trumps destructive hate.

(14,854 posts)Fallon behaving that way around Trump doesn't surprise me because he's got NO SUBSTANCE.

(16,382 posts)But what he is is cowardly. And usually intoxicated. Really lost a lot of respect for him after he had the orange one on his show. He was one of the first to sort of normalize the asshole.

(12,586 posts)Couldn't do anything but whine about how the teleprompter was broken. He wasn't even able to think of saying, "Welcome to the Hollywood Foreign Press Awards." It really didn't enhance his status as a performer (which went downhill from there over the rest of the evening.)

(21,882 posts)he's an employee of NBC. he has bosses. he is not the decision maker. do you think he likes everybody that he has to talk to?
now you want to talk about CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.? The MSM made Trump. 24/7 for the past year. Don't blame fallon.
And sometimes he has good musical guests.

(8,515 posts)but they never treated Trump as one of the guys like Fallon did..
at the end youll notice that many were not too pleased.
