Donald Trump says D.C.s dress shops are sold out of inauguration gowns. Wrong!

Correcting Trump's lies doesn't rate a thread in LBN anymore. There's only so much bandwidth.

Hat tip, Joe.My.God: HE’LL LIE ABOUT ANYTHING: Trump Falsely Claims That All DC Retailers Are Sold Out Of Inauguration Gowns

Donald Trump says D.C.’s dress shops are sold out of inauguration gowns. Wrong!

By Emily Heil January 9 at 11:24 AM

@emilyaheil

President-elect Donald Trump, in a Monday interview with the New York Times, took issue with Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech in which the actress slammed Trump without actually naming him. ... But it was an offhand remark the president-in-waiting made after his Streep-bashing that caught our eye: Trump played hype man for his own inauguration, boasting that the turnout would be record-setting. “There will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” Trump told the Times. “All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

Hang on — is Trump actually saying that Washington’s racks are bare of formal gowns? That there are scant “great” frocks left? Putting aside the old-timey reference to “dress shops” (ladies wear all manner of clothing these days, including pants), we wondered if it was possible that the city’s shops actually had been cleared out of ball-worthy wear.

Definitely not, said Martha Slagle, vice president and general manager of the Neiman Marcus in Friendship Heights. If a ball attendee were to walk in today, “you have more than a thousand evening gowns to choose from,” she said, noting that the store stocks up every four years in anticipation of inauguration demand.

Classic black? Got ’em. Colorful garments? Yep, those, too — plus furs and wraps and evening coats for the notoriously chilly January nights, she said. ... Slagle actually laughed when we mentioned Trump’s claim about the status of Washington’s dress options. “I’m stuffed with beautiful gowns,” she said.

figures.

Republicans lap this shit up.

And he keeps lying to them.

What's up with that?

It's not just stupidity.

It's actively wanting to not know the truth.

He might be well advised to read up on a little world history considering his new job and stuff but that's soooooo boring for our preteen PEOTUS. Keeping up with dress shops is where it's at.

Let us pray.

sweatshop -made designer knockoffs online, and then team it up with some of Melania's Home Shopping Network fake jewelry. Being seen in the family rags may even get you in good with DFT. He'll never miss an opportunity to grift or exploit his office.

Storing them in an old warehouse?

Paying people to go to the unauguration?

Amazing what kind of public scenes you can create with a couple hundred thousand bucks you made off somebody else's hard work. It's odd that he's got "dresses in D.C." on his mind, perhaps because he's been working that angle to "boost his ratings."

and I don't mean he's sewing gowns for the inaugural.

Any time he opens his mouth he is likely to be lying.

I noticed that comment in the NY Times article this morning when I posted the thread and thought it was very odd.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028448294

How the hell would he know the level of inventory of formal gowns in all the shops of DC? Obviously, he wouldn't.
That means he probably made it up. So, I'm not surprised someone actually made a few phone calls and discovered
the truth: that he lied.

My hunch is that the attendance at his inaugural will be one of the smallest in history. Those poor white males we're all supposed
to feel so sorry for will not be in attendance. The entertainment community will not be there. Various racial groups he disparaged
during his campaign will not be there.

Who will be there? The billionaires? There aren't that many of them. And they don't buy off the rack. The KKK bring their own (white gowns).

The guy is a pathological liar. Remember it.

Jared Kushner, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s son-in-law, is to be named senior adviser to the president.

■ Mr. Trump, after an intelligence report concluded that Russia tried to help him get elected, is going after ... Meryl Streep.

■ A Trump fib: You can’t buy a dress in Washington for the inauguration.

■ The president-elect takes credit for a $1 billion Fiat-Chrysler investment in the United States. . .

The rumored post has focused attention on Mr. Kushner’s myriad potential conflicts of interest, including a Chinese development deal that’s in the works. Then there’s the issue of whether a son-in-law in the West Wing violates antinepotism laws.'
