(12,659 posts)Where all the months have 28 days. And there's 13 months. A lunar calendar, like the Buddhists and the Hebrews have, rather than the Roman/Christian/Gregorian solar calendar these modern, European countries have...
Laz remembers reading a letter to the editor from the CSM back in the early 1980's, where some lady from Birmingham was complaining about the trend for "translation" bibles, (where they had the Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic translation in the margins for certain words to provide context) stating
"If the King James version was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for Me!"

(6,395 posts)You should see the look on some fundies when I tell them that not only did the Bible did not exist during Christ's time, its not even one book, but a collection of several. Oh and God didn't actually write it, because the only place God wrote anything was on some stone tablets that was given to Moses. And Jesus only wrote in the dirt with a stick when they were about to stone an adulterer....and that's forever lost in the wind.
They get hot under the collar and scream, calling me a liar, heretic, etc. To borrow a line from Jack Nicholson "You can't handle the truth!"

(13,424 posts)Otherwise the 1st of every month would be a Sunday (as would the 8th, 15th and 22nd) if you use a 28 day calendar.

(14,854 posts)Is Trump going to make each month 27 or 34 days long?
I shouldn't be too surprised, though. I've worked with some really dumb people over the years.
A Vietnamese-American co-worker was asked by other co-workers how he arrived in this country. He started to mention part of his travel on a boat and someone interjected, "Oh! I think I saw that on TV years ago! Were you one of those boat people who kept showing up in Florida?" He silently stared at her for a moment and then changed gears. "I mostly swim here! I swim across Pacific ocean! I'm number one, world-class swimmer!" Several people asked him if that's what he really did! He looked over at me, shook his head and smirked.

(37,748 posts)I s'pose I should check my Jesus Freaks Facebook group, as we didn't see this one on the Sunday pews as we sat down (but really, I thought the cool thing among the trendy and the hip was to replace F with PH in some pique of creativity... so wouldn't we actually be Jesus Phreaks?)
It would be a boring world if every philosophy didn't have its share of obnoxious freaks and loud-mouth proselytizers: the Pat Robertsons and Madelyn Murray O'Haires make for a rather colorful planet.

(82,849 posts)I have Facebook friends who used to post those "this calendar anomaly hasn't happened in 863 years" nonsense. I posted a response every time, and now I don't see them anymore. I'd like to think it's because my friends have a modicum of smarts and will change their behavior in the face of facts.
But I'm sure I'll see this one before too long, and I'll have another opportunity to enlighten the superstitious.

(9,019 posts)I mean, I would not put it past some people to purposefully plant false memes to make some group of people look bad.
I mean, them Jesus freaks are frikkin' nuts, but still, ya know?
