The director of the Office of Government Ethics is blasting President-elect Donald Trump's plan to avoid conflicts of interest as "wholly inadequate."Speaking at the Brookings Institution in Washington, Walter M. Shaub said Trump's plan to separate himself from his business interests doesn't follow the tradition of presidents from the past four decades.
"This is not a blind trust," he said. "It's not even close."
Shaub's office is not an enforcement agency, but it advises executive branch officials about how to avoid conflicts. It's the office combing through the financial holdings of Trump's Cabinet nominees to look for problems.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump announced that he would place his vast business holdings in a trust controlled by his adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, and that he would relinquish his leadership of the Trump Organization.

OP
...hope you have better luck with this than I did.
Really discouraging not finding any support for this man, other than one poster making a joke.

(18,125 posts)2. So isn't this the same guy who was tweeting how brilliant Trump was for divesting?
His gushing was embarrassing.
Or was he being sarcastic?

I really don't know what 'gushing' you're talking about. His office has been a consistent critic, starting with attempting to hold congressional republicans accountable over his nominees.

..he's clearly responding to Trump claiming he was divesting.
Having failed to do so, this man is rightly criticizing Trump today.
I really don't understand why you've presented this in such a way that cast aspersions on Schuab, instead of noting this man's consistent call for divestiture.
